I Have a Secret for You

Posted by Bridget on February 24, 2012 in Fitness Motivation, Moms Only, Wellness

Shhh, I have a secret to tell you.  It’s one that I’m not proud of and, quite frankly, one that I don’t understand very well.  You see, I currently weigh more than I did when I gave birth to all 3 of my sons…5 pounds more to be exact.  The problem is, I don’t look 9+ months pregnant, and I certainly don’t feel 9+ months pregnant. I also have never gone over a size 6 in my jeans/pants/skirts etc.  Now, I know that muscle weighs more than fat and that I have gained more muscle than I had when I started on this journey of motherhood with my first pregnancy almost 13 years ago, but it’s not possible that I have gained 40 pounds of muscle!!

I have worked my butt off (I wish that I could say that actually happened!) since the birth of my last son 7 years ago to get back to my pre-pre-pre-pregnancy body.  Realizing that I couldn’t get all the way back to that fit, tight-bodied 18 year old cheerleader body was a bit depressing, so I settled for at least getting to the absolute fittest that I could be.  Unfortunately, life got in the way of my plans.

Here is another secret that I will share you, my measurements.  GASP!! If I have them recorded, it will be that much more of an incentive for me to get back on track.  So, with a gulp and a flush of my face, here they are: chest: 34 ½, bust: 40, waist: 35, hips: 39, thigh: 25, and upper arm: 11.  YIKES, I DO NOT like those numbers!!!

I am planning on shrinking these on this journey that you all are taking with me.  You see, the YMCA is located extremely close to where my boys swim.  Once I drop them off for practice, I will head to my own workout for at least an hour and a half, six days a week.  I am psyched about that!

Here are pictures of me getting started with my workout routine:

Amazingly enough, nutrition is a non-issue for me and my family. I am excited to be able to share recipes and tips with you regarding nutrition, so stay tuned for those and PLEASE feel free to ask any questions that you may have.
