Everybody is Beautiful: Our Garden on the Go Truck Stop

Posted by Eleather Baker on July 17, 2011 in Every Body is Beautiful, Nutrition, Wellness

The Indiana University Health Garden on the Go truck brings fresh fruits and vegetables to Indianapolis neighborhoods each week.  Indiana University Health partnered with Green B.E.A.N. delivery to coordinate the weekly stops as “part of IU Health’s large-scale initiative to fight the obesity epidemic by improving access to healthy foods and safe places.”

We visited the Garden on the Go truck a few weeks ago at their Wednesday morning stop right outside Riverside Park. Riverside is one of 12 stops the truck makes Wednesdays through Saturdays. Anyone can shop on the Garden on the Go truck, and they accept cash, credit cards and SNAP/EBT.

During our visit, we found wonderful produce, friendly staff and warm neighbors.  See for yourself in this week’s photo blog or read about one of the mom’s who is a regular shopper at Riverside. For more information and a complete schedule of Garden on the Go stops, click here.
